Eh, I have to disagree. The Vaults would most definitely be stuck in a time freeze in terms of culture and social norms. Think uncontacted tribes. The rest of the world, depending on how connected people are, would get pockets of warped culture. This is a whole field in international development. Check out Jared Diamond. The Children of the Atom would be a decent example.

Coming back to watch this banger again after being reminded up it. The loose trash and rubble all over the ground in inhabited places 200 years after the bombs fell drives me nuts. It seemed especially egregious in FO4 and took me right out of the game at times. Oh and rest in peace sir.

(4 years later but here's my 2 cents) Whenever I hear about losing in cutscenes I always think about Xenoblade 2, specifically the...For spoilers sake lets call it the Big Head fight. I literally put down the controller for this fight, just to see what would happen. I won 30 seconds later without any party character taking even 20% damage. Then the cutscene was all "IT'S TOO STRONG! WE CAN'T WIN!!!"...It is the only time in the 3 Xenoblade games(haven't played X) I felt just, I don't have a better word for it, insulted by the devs. This is a silly boss, it's an easy boss, a boss I just beat, but NOPE!!! I don't know what would be worse, if it was hard or this.

yk what’s interesting bethesda understands the concept of changing lore and situations based in where the region is in bc look at elder scrolls region and factions and even who governs is noticeably different between morrowind oblivion and skyrim so todd definitely understands the idea of a world being vastly different depending on location but with fallout it was more so like lets try to make this ip as future proof as positive to have a pop culture game that has similar factions and mobs and imagery all around wich is so stupid to me but alas

I agree tha tthey completely fucked up F4. But F3 is in my opinion still a very very good RPG and that weird 50's vibe in the future haded a lot of charism to the game.

In retrospect, New Vegas was like a prototype for first-person RPGs with that turn of the millennium Interplay ethos. I wish this genre could have developed. I’m thinking deep immersive sim, except open world RPG.

Back here to say this after 4 years. Bethesda HATES Fallout even more than I thought, since they have single handedly ruined it, something they didn't do to Elder Scrolls. Guess it is true that Todd Howard hates anything he didn't create.

I've been playing Fallout 76 lately, and I feel like they did a better job adding new enemies to fit the location. With the cryptics, mole men, ect. It's a shame it took this game of all games to do it. Praying they learned their lesson and do better with Fallout 5 or whatever they do next.

So much wasted potential on introducing new mutated enemies, and i guess they did to an extent with the mirelurk queen, mirelurk king, yao guai and others i forgot, probably also others in the fallout 4 dlcs i completely skipped due to how disappointing fallout 4 was. Like come on bethesda make it more interesting, there's no way there's not more mutated enemy types after a nuclear winter and after so much time has passed for organism to actually mutate, but instead they make reskins of enemies like glowing ones and stuff like that that don't really add anything new, instead of putting in actual effort to make new interesting enemy designs that could be terrifying, creepy, etc. I'm not saying i prefer quantity over quality but it just seems lazy to me.

Hey, a great video. I liked the point about people being strange and not recultivating soil and just being strange. But here's what made me wonder. I haven't played fallout enough so feel free to correct me. In this video the mutants from Fallout 1 and 2 are said to have migrated from the West to the East as well as Nuka Cola caps. And there is this weird 50's style and all of these look out of place. Don't you think that despite having number 3 in the game's title, Bethesda actually...rebooted the series rather than made a canon sequel? I think they just discarded and left the previous 2 titles in history and created their own world that basically is absolutely new with its own set of rules but with similar background

It is a cool concept, that the world, or at least the USA kept stucked culturally in the 50ies. They concentrated on other things in that "timestream", so this is nothing to whine about. But, that there is trash everywhere, when at the same time whole nations are rebuilt is really weird 😄

10:52 This is kind of why I feel that it hasn't actually been two hundred years since the bombs fell in FO3 and FO4 (FO4 in particular). Everything is just way too..new. Of course what it really is is that bethsoft is lazy. They got so used to TES where everything can be hand waved away with the excuse of "magic" that they forgot that radiation isn't the same as magic and can't just make their decisions make sense. And we've had two bethesda fallout games now where the plot is "find your missing family member." Not something that makes me hopeful for fallout 5.

Because something isn’t like the original doesn’t mean it isn’t good. The 50s carry over aesthetic makes fallout what it is. It’s the idea to stick with what you know because everything else is gone. Bethesda took their own spin on that idea and it works great, especially in these newer games where some vault dwellers has be already started to populate the earth.

What??? Mass Effect is the most popular installment of the franchise??? I always thought it was by far the worst one and the most frustrating to play through. Not only is the story stupid, doesn't make sense and doesn't connect at all with the story of ME1 and ME2, the gameplay is outright broken. Combat commands to both Shepard and crew are unresponsive half the time, you constantly and unintentionally stick to cover and the game crashes during combat every one to two minutes...

My own gf has no idea what gaming is even about or even cares what makes the industry work. My girlfriend literally works for Ubisoft as a producer making sure timelines are met each week. She can't even handle a controller correctly so I started playing old stuff like Crash Bandicoot on the PS1 to get her up to speed..

Im just finished 3, currently playing 1 and 2. And watching gameplay of Tactits. Its the comparison that makes anyone thattalks abkut fallout sound like an annoying jackass.

I do think fallout 3 was barrable even if it used old creatures, super mutants & brother hood as at least at least settlements looked like they were lived in unlike 4 or 76. Megaton, rivet city, Tenpenny Tower, Arefu among others were good settlement that seemed believable. Mad max like raiders made fallout 3 a lot more bearable then the later Bethesda titles. I would play fallout 3 again unlike 4 that I never finished as frankly it is not a fallout game nor an RPG. 1,2, & New Vegas are S tier games but I would 3 an A- as it ain't perfect but without it we would not have New Vegas. Fallout is C as sure you can play but why? Fallout 76 is F Honestly Fallout shelter was better then 4 & 76. I give that mobile game Shelter a B- as it had something to it at least. I would enjoy a Remake of fallout 3 with the Fallout 4 Engine as that would be a nice quality of life improvement as my the initial engine assets of Bethesda till smoothed out in new Vegas was janky. Fallout 3 was my 1st Fallout game but 2 is my favourite after playing fallout 1. I am looking forward so much to Project Arroyo for fallout 2 mod on fallout 4. Fallout 4 with Mods is a solid experience as honestly the modding community is all that is saving fallout as a franchise these days as Bethesda has no idea what they are doing!

Well, i see your point but im enjoying 76, 4 and 3 were nice. 3 could use a next gen upgrade tho, maybe thro the amazing talents of the mod community, a version of fo 1 or 2 can be brought to life .

Because the writer doesn't want to allow rhe player to gloss over thier work. Gameplay is also too arcady. Nobody likes simulation style action. Making a game that perfectly marries story and gameplay would put too many restrictions on the player and potentially minimize the writers work. The story taking place in game would allow for dialogue to never happen. People could easily miss a lot and get lost. Conversely imagine uncharted as a series of short scenarios where only a handful of options are really viable to beat the game. If getting shot earlier or too much could make it impossible to win the game.

Whatever the title and eveything what's been said here ...Bethesda 's games (skyrim,new vegas.,fallout 3, 4. And 76) are the games Ive played the most and always come back to, numerous times.in short-These games have something others don't .something elusive and so unique.no matter what criticism I will always love them from the bottom of my heart.if only they'd rework 3rd person camera character animation it would be perfect.

About the garbage. People are nasty and dirty irl and will roll around in their own filth and trash, those settlements being covered in trash is a non issue for me. The skeletons still being around is weird though
